<p>Self confidence as it is marketed by fitness organizations is a case in point.</p>
<p>What is Self Confidence?</p>
<p>Why is that term a part of every youth fitness programs list of deliverables?</p>
<p><strong>self–con·fi·dence</strong>  <em>noun</em>: confidence in oneself and in one&#8217;s powers and abilities</p>
<p><strong><sup>1</sup>con·fi·dence</strong>  <em>noun</em>:<strong> </strong>a feeling or consciousness of one&#8217;s powers;  the quality or state of being certain.</p>

<p>That was the headline of a blog post (and video) I made last week.  I spoke about sport specific training for young children and how there is no place for it &#8211; and why.</p>
<p>As a follow up to that I would like to explain what the approach should be for youth fitness and what path should be followed for athletic development in young children.</p>
<p>In the video below I specifically talk about <strong>young kids ages 6-9</strong> and how fitness and OVERALL development should be approached.</p>
